Baptisms & christenings
Welcoming someone into the family of the Church, whatever their age.
Baptism at St Barnabas
Baptism — christening — is the way we welcome someone into the family of the Church, whatever their age.
Baptisms normally take place at St Barnabas once a month on a Sunday at noon.
If you want your child to be baptised — or, indeed, if you yourself want to be baptised — please contact the Team Vicar, the Rev'd Dr. Bernard Minton. He will be glad to talk it through with you, whether you are a regular churchgoer or have not been inside a church in years.
Is there a fee?
The Church of England does not charge a fee for baptism, but there is a collection at the end of the service.
Finding out more
There is a good description of baptism, and what happens at a christening service, on the Church of England's own website.
