Support our work

Your giving keeps two historic churches open, and our work in Linslade going.

Why it matters

How we use your giving

We are fortunate to be custodians of not one but two historic churches — St Barnabas in the centre of Linslade, built in 1848 to serve New Linslade, and St Mary's Old Linslade, across the fields, dating back to around 1100. Both churches in their turn were supported by populations much smaller than today.

Now we seek to maintain St Barnabas as a house of prayer but also a centre of community life in modern Linslade, as well as keeping St Mary's in good order and regular use.

Around £140,000 each year

That is what it costs to keep both churches open and our work going.

Where the money goes

The buildings

Maintaining what we have inherited — the roofs, windows, the bells and the organ, along with heating and cleaning commitments — and hoping to pass it on in good order. There are regular outside visitations and inspections to keep us up to the mark.

Our own vicar

Having our own vicar — something growing numbers of churches can no longer afford to do.

Outreach in Linslade

The weekly newsletter, the monthly parish magazine, and the many local groups who use our rebuilt Church Hall.

Keeping our work relevant

Improvements such as the introduction of cameras in the church, so that we can stream our services to a congregation who cannot all attend in person, through health or distance.

Utility bills

Of the sort we all face — electricity, gas, insurances and licences.

Every gift helps

We all live busy lives, and it would be easy to lose sight of the sacrifice and commitment of those who built and worshipped in our two lovely churches. St Barnabas and St Mary's are a baton passed to us to run a leg in the race of life. You can help us with even a small donation, or if you wish to, a more regular giving commitment.
